AndMine are very proud to be part of the big call to arms down under and support Australian Made Businesses. With the huge challenges in 2020 faced by Australian business, we are helping lead the charge to support Aussie Made.

The BuyAussieDay.com.au website we built is a small part of a the national advertising and awareness push AndMine was engaged to amplify. This has been on of the most well received campaigns we’ve ever been part of, with astronomically high interest across all channels. October 1st is BuyAussieDay …. Get on it! … It should be made a national holiday!! We sure need some positive retail therapy in 2020 ??

The team assisted on web dev, design, edm, marketing, advertising, social media and the all important taglines shared by Aussie olympians splashed all over TV. We also had a huge chunk of our clients get onboard and support the project.

There is even more exciting announcements to come in the coming weeks as a new Australian Online Marketplace is in development launching before Christmas, so there is a place everyone can go and buy Aussie products.

Video conferencing is more commonplace than ever because of the coronavirus crisis and the options are endless in terms of what website/app or links to use. Yet there has been one company that skyrocketed to the top from the very beginning.

In just one month Zoom’s monthly users increased 2000% from 10 million to more than 200million. The popularity of Zoom has only been magnified during these dark times and it can be attributed to it’s easy to use interface especially as it doesn’t need a login and can run in the browser.

You don’t say I’ll call you on Google Hangouts or Microsoft teams, “I’ll call you on Zoom”, or “I’ll zoom you” has become part of the language – this is the viral nature of marketing. The word you use for communication is essential to get right and is the point of “viral” outside of digital link and URL sharing. This is the genius of pairing a product that sells itself with a catchy and useable name. This is not a new phenomenon where successful brand recognition has caused a change in vocabulary, think of “Google” or “Uber” becoming normalised as verbs and now Zoom has become synonymous with video conferencing.

Even though the market is saturated with video conferencing applications, and clearly those like Skype missed the boat, Zoom is at the forefront of the discussion. Yes, there are other reasons platforms gain traction, existing security (Microsoft Teams), friends and relatives are on it (Facebook), the stickiness of their other products (Google hangouts), but when trends move, they move around people’s ability to share things fast. The benchmark for sharing is not just a link – every platform has that… it is the underlying brand is the big factor here, and people are even saying I’ll send you a “zoom” and then send another link instead, it is the ‘Let me Google that’ of video conferencing. In the end, we are busy creatures who adopt habits fast and on the least path of resistance. So when you’re branding or naming something, always think, how will this be said?… on the phone, in an email, on social, and when we open up again, our favourite saying, “what will you say to your friends at a bbq?”

In the time of lockdown, it’s a digital agency that should shine right? Absolutely it isn’t easy on anyone at the moment, but you gotta celebrate the wins, big and small. It was a great pleasure for AndMine this week to launch Xavier College’s new Drupal 8 website. Started pre Covid, and working with an exceptional team both sides… I know my crew can go into crunch time, it was also a blessing to work with Xavier’s Marketing and IT teams – even though we all battled zoom and hangouts microphone, video glitches and of course the standard weekend work and late nights till launch… so lockdown sort of helped there!

The project re-envisaged the user experience from the ground up and integrated into a well structured IT stack across users including student, parent, teacher, management and alumni users. The early focus was bringing the imagery of the campuses to life, and being able to capture the overwhelming presence of Xavier in real life, to the web. Check out the homepage video which is the hero of the site.

Xavier College - Website Case Study

The design team also leveraged elements from the logo to develop new assets for the digital style guide integrated in the Mega Menu, Links, Content Areas and other little embellishments which tied the aesthetic together.

From a technical standpoint, Drupal8 was chosen as the CMS to accommodate the enterprise IT stack and functionality for a hierarchy of users and accessibility as well as tie into legacy platforms and APIs already well established at Xavier.

The outcome of the project has been received exceptionally well so far, and I’m super proud of the whole team involved from AndMine on this. They were pushed to on expectations on both the visual and technical front to deliver something we’d hold as a showcase in the education industry.

The site will now move into a phase 2 development alongside some powerful digital marketing hooks and user journey’s we have under the bonnet. This is where Xavier will be another huge step ahead in the education sector and digital marketing.
